2008-09-17: Communology receives venture capital for international expansion

With an investment of several million euros, German software and solution vendor Communology, plans to drive the development of new types of mobile multimedia services and expand its business on an international scale. The main focus will be placed on the rapidly growing market segments of mobile social communities, mobile marketing and mobile instant messaging. Munich Venture Partners was involved in the second round financing as a new investor, while S-VC, Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau and both founders Thomas Kähler and Frank Bell also took part as the previous providers of capital.

2008-08-11: Communology is now member in the Open Mobile Terminal Platform group OMTP

OMTP As one of the leading and most innovative providers of mobile solutions Communology now joined the OMPT group [www] . Communology will enhance the efforts of the group in supporting standards, innovation and quality. Communology´s contribution to OMPT will be a profound experience in development of rich media mobile application for all existing platforms.
OMTP is an operator-sponsored forum that serves the needs of each and every link in the mobile phone value chain by gathering and driving mobile terminal requirements. There are currently 8 full members: AT&T, Hutchison 3G, Orange, Telecom Italia, Telefónica, Telenor, T-Mobile and Vodafone. OMTP also has the support of 3 sponsors: Ericsson, Nokia and Nuance. There are a total of 31 participants from all parts of the industry; including Application software, hardware and the OS space. OMTP is operator driven, but it is scoped to serve the industry as a whole.


2008-06-01: Communology joined Next Generation Mobile Networking Group (NGMN)

ngmn Communology is now member of the Next Generation mobile networking group (NGMN) [www] . The NGMN Alliance was founded to shape the future of mobile industry. The operator members of NGMN Alliance represent well over half of the total mobile subscribers globally and the vendor partners of the NGMN Alliance account for more than 90% of global deployments of mobile networks. Together they have been working to realise the vision of personal broadband where the connectivity to the data networks is shifted from fixed locations to mobile individuals. 2008-04-17: Frank Bell takes the position of a Vice Chair of the GSMNA Java Task Force

Frank Bell, CTO and one of the two founders of Communology, takes the position of a Vice Chair of the 3GAmericas/GSMNA Java Task Force as of today.
This has been announced by the GSM Association through the North American Interest Group GSMNA. The Java Task Force defines standardized test cases for Java ME to reduce fragmentation and to improve the quality of Java implementation on mobile communications devices. The execution of these standardized test cases are used during the testing and certification of any new device for the American market.
We will support Frank´s activities and wish him success for this new challenge.

2008-02-01: Telkomsel Indonesia orders Instant Messaging Service

Telkomsel, the biggest GSM provider in Indonesia with 30 Mio subscribers orders an Instant Messaging Solution from Nokia Siemens Networks. Communology received the order from Nokia Siemens Networks for delivering customer branded clients whereas Nokia Siemens Networks is responsible for the end-to-end systems and services, which will include consulting, implementation of the entire messaging solution, and systems integration. For the launch 20 different mobile phones are selected by Telkomsel. Communology and Nokia Siemens Networks are partnering in the area of Instant Messaging Solution.

2007-12-18: Communology expands mte customer basis

The test platform mte Java for PTCRB certification, covering the GSMNA test specifications, is now in global use by international leading test houses like Cetecom and 7layers and by mobile terminal manufacturers. Recently Research in Motion ( RIM ) Canada, Motorola in Denmark, Samsung UK and LGE in Korea licensed the tool from Communology. The manufacturers and the accredited test houses use the test platform for quality testing and for the certification of the Java conformance requested for the North American markets. On request Communology´s professional services group supports the defect management process during the test cycles with profound Java expertise.


2007-05-08: Communology mte licensed to Cetecom
